Victim in fatal accident identified as Granite Falls man

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 27-year-old man killed in a traffic accident Saturday as Shaun J. Turner of Granite Falls.

Turner was killed and a 16-year-old girl was injured in a one-vehicle accident north of Monroe. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. along Woods Creek Road, when Turner’s car left the road, went down an embankment and crashed into a tree.

Turner died at the scene. The girl was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with what were described as serious injuries. A second passenger, a 19-year-old man who was sitting in the rear of the car, was not hurt.

The accident remains under ivnestigation.
