Wallingford fire caused by electrical problem

The spectacular fire in Wallingford Wednesday evening was caused by an electrical problem, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

On its blog, Fire Line, the department put the damage at about $180,000, to the house where the fire started and its contents.

The house was just three feet behind Kitaro Bento restaurant, quite close to a building housing dentist’s office and to Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream.

The department said when firefighters arrived at 1624 N. 45th St. Wednesday evening, “there was enough fire to potentially engulf several neighboring buildings.”

Firefighters were able to control the blaze in 25 minutes and minimize damage to the nearby buildings, the department says.
