It'll be windy, rainy tonight; power restored West Seattle

UPDATE: Power has been restored in West Seattle, according to City Light’s website

It’s going to be windy enough tonight in the Seattle area to “where you can get some branches knocked off a tree and into power lines, causing local power outages,” says Jay Albrecht, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

Seattle City Light reported a power outage in the West Seattle are that was affecting 874 customers. The agency’s web site said the cause of the outage was unknown, although it estimated power would be restored by midnight tonight.

Albrecht said winds from to 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts to 45 miles an hour, are expected through midnight in the area.

Then the winds will diminish and Wednesday daytime will see southwest winds of 10 to 15 miles an hour.

“It’ll be a gentle breeze,” said Albrecht.

Oh, yes, there will be off and on showers, and a high Wednesday of 46, he said.

In other words, typical Seattle weather for January.  Honolulu this isn’t.
