Morning Memo/Saturday: Windy, slushy, gloppy … and the lights are still out for many

Weather: Getting warmer all the time. The gusty winds from overnight have died down a bit, but it will be breezy today — and raining off and on. High around 46. Tonight, lows will be in the upper 30s and the high on Sunday should be around 46 again. Expect rain again Sunday. The details. And the Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: No major incidents, but be careful of the big puddles (almost always, they are deeper than they look) and the slushy, gloppy side streets. The map and the cams.

Utility crews are out there, but Puget Sound Energy was reporting more than 193,000 customers without power this morning. Seattle City Light reported 214 customers still without power. The numbers will change as the day goes along.

We have said this before, but it is important: If your power is out, and you want to run a generator — only run it outside. Please do not try to get warm by burning charcoal indoors or by burning anything in your home other than a fireplace or woodstove. Carbon monoxide can be deadly.
