Armed man prompts scare at Bellevue federal building

A man who entered a federal building in downtown Bellevue in violation of a protection order was arrested this afternoon, according to police.

Bellevue police spokeswoman Carla Iafrate said the man walked into the Homeland Security area of the Social Security Administration building in the 500 block of 106th Avenue. He was not supposed to be in the building because a person who works there has a protection order against him, Iafrate said.

The suspect, who also allegedly had a knife, was pursued by police when he fled. He was later  subdued and arrested, she said.
