Light snow flurries possible in Puget Sound area Tuesday

The Puget Sound area could see some light snow on Tuesday, but it’s unlikely any will stick around, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said Monday night.

In the Seattle area, places at about 500 feet of elevation could see snow at about 2 p.m. Tuesday and again after midnight, said Jay Neher.

But in the Hood Canal area, it’s a different story: there, elevations around 400 feet could see up to 2 inches of snow, Neher said.

It’s unlikely any of snow in the Seattle area will accumulate, Neher said, but what will stick around is the colder weather: Temperatures will be in mid- to low-40s through Thursday.

That’s a little below average, but not unusual, for this time of year, he said.

“It’s still wintertime,” Neher said.

Temperatures should warm up slightly to the mid- to upper-40s on Friday he said.
