Man sentenced to 26 years for fatal shooting in ID
A 28-year-old Seattle man was sentenced today to 26 years in prison for the fatal October 2010 shooting of another man in the Chinatown International District, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
A King County jury last May convicted Pierce Dubois of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm for killing Jarrett Jackson. Police said Jackson had accused Dubois of having sex with the mother of Jackson’s child, according to a Seattle police report.
According to a police report, Dubois and another man were at a nightclub in West Seattle before the shooting. At some point that night Dubois told the other man that they needed to talk with someone, so they drove to the International District to find Jackson, police said.
Dubois got out of the car near 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street and proceeded to fight with Jackson, the police report said. He returned to the car, went back to find Jackson again and shots were then fired, police said. Dubois ordered the other man to drive, but the car was stopped by patrol officers who heard the gunfire, police said.
Police said Dubois ran but was quickly caught.
Police said they found Jackson on the sidewalk at 12th Avenue South and South King Street. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.
