Morning Memo/Monday: More sun; smooth traffic; Super Bowl DUIs

Weather: It’s going to be another sunny and (relatively) warm day today. Ditto tomorrow, with no clouds in sight and temps expected to reach — gasp — into the 60s. But don’t get too comfy because it’s supposed to rain again on Wednesday, with clouds, showers or the prospect of same visited upon us for the rest of the week. Enjoy it while you can. Details:

Traffic:   There were spots of heavy traffic on I-5 south of Lynnwood early this morning but for the most part, the major freeways were flowing smoothly. For the latest:

Post Super Bowl DUIs:  The number of arrests — 11 — state troopers made in King County was down a bit this year from Super Bowl Sunday a year ago, when 15 drivers were busted between the hours of 5 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. the next morning. As holidays and special-event days go, St. Patrick’s Day is still the biggie for such arrests; last year on St. Paddy’s, troopers arrested some 30 individuals for driving under the influence in King County. Not so much on Christmas night, when troopers arrested just 2 drivers last year and 4 the year before. State Trooper Julie Stardup says the number of arrests is influenced to some extent by factors such as the holiday’s day of the week and the patrol’s available manpower on that particular day.
