Morning Memo/Sunday: expect a wet President's Day; home show in full swing; man shot in Holly Park

Weather:  Look on the bright side: at least it’s a three-day weekend. Expect clouds today and rain tonight, followed by what’s likely to be a wet President’s Day, with light rain predicted in the morning and again later in the night. Highs for most of the week are supposed to reach into the 50s (barely) dropping into the low 40s and high 30s at night, expect for Saturday night, when it’s supposed to get really cold — down to 30 degrees.  At least the week’s forecast doesn’t seem to call for those cold, cold winds that put a chill on yesterday morning.

Traffic:   The map and cams:   Major streets appeared to be wide open this morning.

Seattle Home Show:  Especially considering the forecast, if you are looking for something to do indoors this weekend, the Home Show is underway at the CenturyLink Field Event Center.

The event offers more than 500 home and garden displays reflecting new trends in everything from landscaping to appliances to room decor and makeovers, with information also available on home loans and refinancing so you can afford it all.

Today’s hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The event center is at 800 Occidental Ave. S. in Seattle.

Snoqualmie Pass back in business:  Snoqualmie Pass has re-opened in both directions after the completion of avalanche-control work, the State Department of Transportation said Sunday. Eastbound traffic was stopped around 3:20 a.m. near Denny Creek to bring down snow volume. Traction tires continue to be advised.

Man injured in shotgun blast: Seattle Police say someone used a shotgun to shoot a man with birdshot early Sunday in the Holly Park area of South Seattle. Police responded around 3:10 a.m. to a report of shots fired and someone screaming, possibly near South Holly Place and Holly Park Drive South. Police were on their way when dispatchers told them the victim was at another, undisclosed location. The man was found with non-life-threatening injuries to his back, arms and legs and taken to Harborview Medical Center. Police say he refused to provide any information about the incident.
