Morning Memo/Sunday: It's a beautiful morning; dog starts house fire; inmates on lockdown
Weather: Sun, sun, sun. Can’t get enough of it. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies today and Monday. It will likely be a bit cloudy Tuesday and Wednesday, but no precipitation is in store for us the entire week. Let’s hold Mother Nature to that forecast. The details.
Traffic: The details.
A dog started a fire in a Vancouver, Wash., home early Saturday that destroyed the house. The fire started when the dog inadvertently turned on a stove.
Walla Walla lockdown: Four units at the state penitentiary are on lockdown after a fight involving four offenders Saturday evening. The assault, which injured several staff and inmates, occurred about 7:40 p.m. in a common area of one of four close-custody living units in the West Complex, which is the prison’s second-highest custody level. The Associated Press reported that staff recovered several weapons that had been used in the assault and placed six offenders in segregation. All activities in the West Complex, including visiting, have been cancelled for the rest of the weekend but the lockdown will not impact scheduled activities for the rest of the facility.
