Morning Memo/Thursday: NBA Seattle poll … Ron Paul … Bicycle accidents map

Weather: Could get some rain this afternoon, but maybe some sun breaks tomorrow. That would be nice for a change. But then we return to typical Seattle weather: Gray and wet for the next five days. The National Weather Service forecast for today.

TrafficThe map and cams.

NBA in Seattle? If you didn’t already know… Chris Hansen, the wealthy San Franciscan and Seattle native wants to entice NBA and hockey teams to Seattle by building a sports arena here, according to sources. His plan may be revealed today. Do you want such an arena here? Take our poll.

A man from our state accused of beating his girlfriend to death at a resort in Hawaii has been found mentally fit to stand trial. The trial for Philip Howard Zimmerman, 46, is scheduled for May 23.

Bicycle accidents mapped: If you’re interested in tracking bicycle collisions in Seattle, we have updated our interactive map of that data, showing bicycle accidents by location and type of collision for 2007 through 2011, including fatal accidents. There’s also a new feature that allows readers to share and comment on Facebook and Twitter. Here’s the link.  Also, recent Seattle Times coverage on biking through town is available here.

The state of the state’s money, sorta: Wouldn’t want to be a state lawmaker with the onerous duty of having to make big cuts in the state budget. They’ll get a chance to see what they’re up against when the state revenue forecast is released later today.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul visiting: Presidential candidate Ron Paul will be at a SeaTac hotel at 7:30 p.m. today for a campaign rally. We’ll be there.
