Morning Memo/Wednesday: Microsoft layoffs … Planned Parenthood money gone

Weather:  Rain this morning. Lots of it. But it should be gone by afternoon and we might even see some sunshine. What are you complaining about, anyway? The weekend looks great! But don’t take my word for it: Click here.

Traffic:  A four-car crash on southbound Interstate 5 in Everett, near Broadway, was by 6:30 a.m. only blocking the HOV lane, but the backup from earlier lane closures stretched for miles. Things otherwise are looking fairly clear on this morning’s wet highways.

Layoffs at Microsoft will be announced later today, according to KOMO-TV, citing unidentified sources. Bloomberg reported last month they were coming.

Planned Parenthood is losing hundreds of thousands of dollars from breast-cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure in a rift linked to the abortion debate.

The gay marriage bill is set for a vote in the state Senate by this afternoon or evening. It is expected to pass with at least 25 votes, then move on to the House.

Police chasing a cherry picker? It’s not often you see that, but North Seattle and Shoreline residents did last night. The suspect, a woman in her 20s,  finally crashed the stolen bucket-lift truck on Aurora Avenue North at North 117th Street and was arrested on a slew of charges.
