Reported burglary in Beacon Hill results in 1 arrest

An intensive search for two burglars in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood resulted in one arrest Thursday afternoon.

At about noon, a 911 call from a resident of the 4800 block of Columbia Drive South reported two males kicking in the door of a neighbor’s house and going inside.

In an online blog posting, Seattle Police Detective Jeff Kappel said the house they entered was in the 2000 block of South Edmunds Street.

Officers were responding when the caller reported that the suspects had left the house and fled in a green vehicle.

During the search for the vehicle, another 911 caller called to report seeing it and two men. At one point, police were chasing the vehicle but  it managed to elude them.

Eventually, an officer saw the suspect vehicle stopped on South Juneau Street with one person walking away from it.

The officer gave chase, but it took a canine unit to find the suspect hiding under a house.

Kappel said items stolen from the victim’s home were seen inside the suspect vehicle.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
