Seattle holding jobs workshop for older adults

Older job-seekers looking for help with networking, resumes, LinkedIn and other job-hunting skills can get free help at a Seattle workshop on Wednesday.

The workshop is being conducted by the city’s 55+ Employment Resource Center. A career development counselor will discuss recruiting tips for seniors, and a job counselor with the Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens — which is sponsoring the workshop — will talk about using LinkedIn, networking, resume writing, cover letters, interviewing and other techniques.

The resource center helps older workers find jobs and helps local employers find experienced employees. Services are free to both job seekers and employers.

Among other things, the center offers employer outreach, job training including computer classes, access to a computer for resume-writing and research, individual job counseling, quarterly employment workshops and job listings.

The Wednesday workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the city’s Central Building.  To register, e-mail Joan Uzelak at joan.uzelak@seattle.gov or call 206-233-2779 .
