2 arrested in Monday’s triple shooting in Lacey

Lacey police arrested two suspects Friday night in connection with Monday’s murder of one man and the nonfatal shootings of two others.

The suspects, both Lacey residents, were taken into custody around 7 p.m. They were expected to be booked into the Thurston County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder and attempted murder, police said.

A handgun believed to be the murder weapon has been recovered, according to a police news release. Details were not immediately available about the shooters’ motives or how the case was broken.

Police said on Monday the shootings were “not a random act” and that shots were fired by a guest at a home.

Joshua W. Nelson, 23, of Lacey was killed and two other men were injured in the triple shooting in a house Monday morning. The two surviving victims were released from a hospital by Tuesday, The Olympian newspaper reported.

In the wake of the shootings, police said they were looking for a man who had fled the scene. The surviving victims described a suspect by his initials only.

Police arrested two other men Monday whom they said may have visited the victims’ house the morning of the shootings but were not believed to be implicated in the violence. Police said they found evidence that appeared to connect those men to a burglary.

The shooting occurred in the 5900 block of Daniel Loop Southeast.
