Renton man charged in attacks on women in Shoreline, Bellevue

Prosecutors charged Charles Linnell Bluford in connection with four felonies Wednesday, stemming from an attack on a woman in Shoreline March 10 and another in Bellevue on Jan. 26.

Bluford, 38, of Renton, was arrested March 19 and remains in King County Jail in lieu of $1.2 million bail, said King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Dan Donohoe. He is accused of first-degree rape and first-degree robbery in the Shoreline case, and first-degree robbery and indecent liberties in the Bellevue case.

In the Shoreline case, the woman reported being attacked near Northeast 165th Street, just north of the Seattle city limits, after parking her car in her home garage. The assailant threatened her with a black handgun, and stole her purse and the wedding ring off her finger, in addition to the sexual assault,  police report said.

The Bellevue victim was a woman who was threatened with a gun after parking in an underground apartment garage, on the north edge of downtown Bellevue, a police report said.

Arraignment is scheduled April 5 at the Regional Justice Center in Kent.

Bluford has three felony convictions in other states, the most recent for cocaine possession in Florida, the Shoreline police report said.
