School bomb threats lead to arrest of Mill Creek teen

There is not points to locate on the map
A 17-year-old student at Jackson High School in Mill Creek was arrested yesterday afternoon after police say he telephoned bomb threats to the school twice this week.

On Tuesday night, someone left a voicemail message at the school saying a bomb had been planted in a school locker room. Mill Creek police said they were contacted Wednesday morning and listened to the message, which was left by a male.

The school’s locker room and gym were evacuated while police searched for the bomb. Nothing was found, said Mill Creek police spokesman Ian Durkee.

On Wednesday afternoon, the school received a second phone call regarding a bomb. The male who called again reported that there was a bomb in the locker room, police said.

Mill Creek police were able to link the male voice to the 17-year-old student. When interviewed by police, the boy said that he made the calls but “the threats were only a practical joke,” according to police.

Police searched the boy’s apartment and did not find any bomb-making materials.

Investigators initially left the boy in his mother’s custody, but when he allegedly called the school a third time to make another bomb threat he was arrested and booked into the Denney Youth Center in Everett for investigation of threats to bomb or damage property, Durkee said.
