Seattle PD adds a 2nd bomb-sniffing dog

Seattle police announced Tuesday that the department has a new K-9 officer, Boomer, who has finished 440 hours of training and is ready “to dive nose first into dangerous situations.”

Boomer, who once called an animal shelter his home, will join a veteran explosives-trained dog in doing sweeps at concerts, presidential visits and sporting events.

The dogs also help detectives find evidence, such as shell casings, said Lt. Greg Sackman.
