Being chased by cops a 4th time lands her in prison

The Associated Press

YAKIMA — A 33-year-old Toppenish woman has been sentenced to three years and a day in prison for her fourth try at eluding police and driving under the influence.

The Yakima HeraldĀ reports Shawntay Dull also was placed on five years of probation Tuesday for her guilty pleas to charges of attempting to elude police and DUI.

The conviction stems from a chase in March that lasted 28 minutes and topped speeds of 100 mph.

Troopers eventually flattened two of the suspect’s tires with spike strips, slowing her down, then a pursuing trooper bumped the car, causing it to spin out.

Dull’s sentence resulted from a change in state law that increased the penalty when other lives are in danger because of a police chase.
