Gun at school: 2 Kentlake High boys arrested

There is not points to locate on the map

Two students at Kentlake High School were arrested this morning for bringing a gun onto school grounds.

King County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the school at 10 a.m. after receiving a call from school officials saying that two students had been showing off a handgun to other students, says King County sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West.

Deputies found the two students, boys ages 16 and 17, in a classroom. Deputies found a gun inside the 16-year-old’s backpack; the weapon was reportedly given to him by the 17-year-old, West said.

West said it’s unclear why the gun was brought to the school.

“At this point it was a show and tell, we don’t know if there were threats,” West said.

The older boy told deputies that he had taken the firearm from his aunt’s home in Eastern Washington without her knowing.

Both boys have been detained, but West wasn’t certain whether they would be booked into the King County Youth Service Center.
