King Co. deputy collides with car during pursuit

There is not points to locate on the map

A driver whose car was struck last night by a King County sheriff’s deputy who was chasing a stolen vehicle initially told the deputy not to worry, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

“She told him, ‘I’ll be OK. Go get him,’ ” West said.

According to West, the deputy was in the White Center area around 7 p.m. when he spotted the stolen car. The driver of the stolen vehicle took off, she said, and the deputy initiated a pursuit. Less than a minute later, she said, the deputy collided with  a car driven by a 57-year-old woman near 15th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Henderson Street.

Although the driver said she was fine, she was taken to Harborview Medical Center where she was treated for minor back and hand injuries, West said.

The deputy was also treated for minor injuries sustained in the collision.

The stolen car was found abandoned a short time later. One female passenger in the car was taken into custody, West said, but the driver remains at large.
