Morning Memo/Thursday: Police need your help … Supe finalist No. 3

Weather: It sure has been raining. Duh. Drizzly today, light rain tomorrow, but maybe things will get better on the weekend. Fingers crossed. By the way, temperatures are supposed to be in the low 60s this time of year. We’re getting that one day here and one day there. Go figure. The National Weather Service forecast.

New to Seattle and now dead: The shooting death of a young woman who was looking to find an apartment in Pioneer Square when someone killed her in a drive-by says something about Seattle: Gangs? Guns? Senseless violence? A life ended simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Police are asking for the public’s help.  Anyone with any information should contact the department’s violent-crime hotline at 206-233-5000.

Superintendent meet-up: Seattle superintendent candidate Sandra Husk, the third finalist to visit this week, will hold a news conference to meet the public today. We’ll be there.

What we’re reading this morning:  Felix Hernandez, Mariners hitters dominate Tigers, 9-1Man charged in North Bend killings, called a survivalistSeattle principal’s handling of money investigated

Candid camera: We’ve written items about this before, but still like them. A thief who made off with $6,000 of jewelry was caught in Spokane after a motion-detecting camera set up to catch wild animals caught him instead. He might be responsible for 50 some break-ins.

That hand sanitizer story: Readers sure like the story about the teens drinking hand sanitizer in L.A. to get high … Hope it’s not happening here.

Traffic: The map and cams.
