UPDATE: Motorcyclist injured in crash on Alaskan Way Viaduct

UPDATE AT 7:57 A.M.: A 48-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries last night when she lost control of her motorycycle and crashed on the Alaskan Way Viaduct near South King Street, Seattle police said.

The woman apparently lost control of the motorcycle at the south end of the viaduct, where the roadway veers to the left before heading down toward the stadiums, and struck a concrete barrier, police said.  Police do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the 10:15 p.m. accident.

The victim was taken to to Harborview Medical Center.

The viaduct was closed for several hours while the detectives conducted the investigation. 

ORIGINAL POST: A woman suffered life-threatening injuries last night in a motorcycle accident on the Alaskan Way Viaduct.

The woman, in her 40s, was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Her condition was not immediately known this morning.

The accident happened around 10:15 p.m. near South Lander Street, according to the Fire Department’s 911 log.

We’ll update this post as soon as we have additional details.
