Seattle PD asks help finding man in report of child-luring

Seattle police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man involved in an apparent attempted child-luring incident Monday morning in South Seattle.

A 14-year-old girl was walking to school on 42nd Avenue South from South Graham Street around 8:20 a.m. when she saw a maroon minivan drive past. The driver turned around and “made several comments of a sexual nature” to her,  according to police spokeswoman Renee Witt. The girl ran to school and kept yelling “no” at the man. She then phoned her mother, who contacted police.

The man is described as in his early 20s with a thick beard. The maroon minivan he was driving was, possibly, a Dodge and had a black bumper. The vehicle bore a Washington state license plate beginning with the numbers 235. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the man or his vehicle is asked to call 911.
