Seattle police make arrest in drive-by shooting

Seattle police have arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of being involved in a drive-by shooting Saturday in the South Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Officers responded at about 1:10 p.m. to a call of shots fired outside a house in the 5300 block of 33rd Avenue South, Seattle police said. The shooting victim, 19, told police that several men inside a vehicle drove by and opened fire, shooting him twice in the leg. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life threatening, p0lice said.

Provided with the vehicle’s description and license plate, police telephoned the registered owner’s father. The father said one of his sons may have had the car when the shooting occurred.

Police called that son, a 19-year-old who agreed to come to the South Precinct. The father told police that his son had long hair earlier in the day, but shaved it before meeting with the officers. After questioning the 19-year-old and searching the vehicle, police arrested the man and booked him into jail.

Officers believe two other people may also have been involved in the shooting.
