To vote April 17, voters must be registered by Monday

New voters have until Monday to register in order cast ballots in the April 17 special election, according to King County Elections officials.

Those wanting to vote for the first time must register in person at either the King County Elections Office, located at 919 S.W. Grady Way in Renton, or at the voter-registration annex, located in room 311 at the King County Administration Building, 500 4th Ave. in Seattle.

The elections office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the voter-registration annex is also open between those hours, though it is closed between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

To be eligible to vote, you must be 18-years-old by election day; a U.S. citizen; and a legal resident of Washington. People currently under supervision by the state Department of Corrections or those who are disqualified from voting due to court orders may not register to vote.

On the April 17 ballot will be an Auburn transportation bond, a library measure in Enumclaw, a school bond in the Issaquah district and another in the Mercer Island district. There’s also a bond issue in the Renton School District and a levy vote for South King Fire & Rescue.
