Wrong-way driver goes about 3 miles on I-5

The Associated Press

The Washington State Patrol says a driver trying to evade a traffic stop drove the wrong way on Interstate 5 in north Seattle for about three miles before exiting and ditching the car.

Sgt. Keith Trowbridge says the driver headed north on the shoulder of the southbound lanes Thursday and didn’t cause any collisions.

KOMO-TV reports that troopers initially tried to pull the car over just west of the freeway.

Seattle police joined the hunt and found the car abandoned. Troopers arriving in that area spotted a man and woman on foot who fit the description of the car’s occupants. Both were arrested.

Trowbridge said troopers were seeking a search warrant for the car.
