Bringing back the block party in Bellevue

Summer block parties were part of the culture in the 1950s and ’60s, but their popularity waned over time.

Well, the city of Bellevue wants to bring them back and is offering to help neighborhoods organize a party and “bring neighbors and families together in a spirit of community service and celebration.”

And there could be four Mariners tickets in the offing.

Neighborhood Outreach will help you plan your party, and if you combine it with a food drive or a community service project, the city will give you four Mariners tickets to give away at your event. Oh, you can also get fliers and outdoor party banners designed and printed by the city.

To qualify, your block party must be held between June 1 and Sept. 15.

To make your reservation for a Neighbor Link block party, contact Julie Ellenhorn in Neighborhood Outreach, 425-452-6836 or jellenhorn@bellevuewa.gov.
