Bellevue approves annexation of neighborhoods south of Interstate 90

Bellevue’s population of 123,000 will grow by more than 5,000 on June 1 when the Eastgate, Tamara Hills and Horizon View neighborhoods are annexed into the city.

The City Council passed ordinances Monday bringing that area south of Interstate 90 into the city, and authorized agreements with King County and the Hilltop neighborhood that are expected to lead to its annexation July 31.

The four annexation areas have an estimated 2,123 homes and 5,554 residents.

The City Council will hold a reception for new Bellevue citizens from 7:30 to 8 p.m. June 18 at City Hall. Drop-in meetings with city staffers will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 19 and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 20 at the Newport Way Library, and from 10 a.m. to noon June 21 at South Bellevue Community Center.

A celebration from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 26 at the South Bellevue Community Center will include games, giveaways, refreshments and entertainment.
