Victims in the two incidents were shot in the head

At least four of the shooting victims in Seattle today were shot in the head, according to Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg.

A woman who was shot at the University District café died within a half-hour of arriving at the hospital. Two other men at the cafe were taken in critical condition to Harborview, Gregg said. One is in surgery and the other is in very critical condition in the intensive care unit, she said. All of those victims suffered head wounds.

“We’ve got a hard road ahead for them,” Gregg said of the hospitalized victims. “They are in life-threatening situations. It’s just minute-by-minute.”

The woman who died near Town Hall in downtown Seattle also was shot in the head.

Two  men shot at the café died at the scene.

Family members are at the hospital, where staff are providing them with support.
