Seattle police say one patron in the cafe where five people were shot yesterday is a hero for trying to stop the gunman by throwing chairs at him during the shootings, allowing three people to escape.
The patron even faced the gunman at one point, putting himself in direct danger, police said at a news conference at police headquarters this afternoon. They would not name the hero, saying it was up to him whether he was willing to come forward.
The Seattle police account of the hero’s actions tells the story in more detail.
The patron also provided critical information to police that helped in their investigation.
