Pedestrian killed in Redmond crash

A man was killed on Redmond Way last night in a collision that was witnessed by an off-duty police officer.

The Redmond officer was filling up his gas tank at a Shell Station near the 18000 block of Redmond Way around 10 p.m. when he heard tires squealing, according to Redmond police. He looked up and saw a car heading west on Redmond Way. The car started braking hard before striking the pedestrian, who was in the roadway.

The officer called for help from his cellphone and ran to help the pedestrian. The man, whose has not been identified,  died at the scene.

Police do not believe the 26-year-old driver committed any crimes. Redmond Way was closed until around 3 a.m., police said.
