Waiting for the president at Boeing Field

Posted by Mary Jean Spadafora / Seattle Times staff reporter

At about 10 a.m.,  public greeters started to gather in front of the Clay Lacy hangar at Boeing Field to check in for the president’s arrival.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and Gov. Chris Gregoire have arrived.

While waiting for her security clearance, Melanie Skinner from Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood said she is glad to have the opportunity to greet the president, especially after he announced his support for gay marriage. She has many friends who are gay and is happy the president supports an issue important to her.

Skinner brought along her 5-year-old daughter, who named her goldfish after the president.

The president’s plane is expected to land at Boeing Field for a campaign stop that will take him to the home of a Seattle couple for a $35,800-per-couple brunch, followed by a 3 p.m. appearance at the Paramount Theatre for a campaign rally featuring the Dave Matthews Band, where the price of admission is $1,000 a pop.
