UPDATE: Woman dies in shooting near Town Hall downtown

UPDATE: 12:34 p.m. | A Seattle police officer says that SWAT officers, police dogs and uniformed patrolmen are searching a house a neighborhood in West Seattle, in search of gunman who allegedly shot and killed a woman during a carjacking this morning.

The woman has died,  police said.

A police source said that officers earlier today searched a building near downtown for the suspect and were unsuccessful.

In an unrelated shooting, two people are dead and three wounded in a cafe in Seattle’s U District.

Seattle police are investigating a shooting near downtown Seattle in the parking lot by Town Hall.

Seattle police say the shooting occurred near 8th and Seneca around 11:30 a.m. Police say a black Mercedes-Benz SUV is involved.

Police have tweeted that the incident may be a carjacking.

Other details are sketchy, and it’s unclear if the shooting was fatal.

Medics were dispatched to 1119 Eighth Ave., which is Town Hall, a community cultural center, according to the Seattle Fire Department log.
