Everett apartment fire sends woman to the hospital

A fire in an apartment building in Everett late last night sent a woman to the hospital.

Firefighters found the 72-year-old woman in her smoke-filled apartment, although the apartment’s sprinkler had extinquishing the blaze, according to the Everett Fire Department. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was first reported in serious condition, but news outlets later reported her in critical condition.

The fire, which was reported at 11:23 p.m. at Holly Village Apartments in the 9600 block of Holly Drive, was contained to the woman’s apartment, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no damage estimate was available.
