Gunshot fired as Seattle man is pistol-whipped, mugged

A gunshot was discharged last night when one of two armed men pistol-whipped a robbery victim, according to Seattle police.

The victim got off a bus near 22nd Avenue and East Columbia Street around 11:30 p.m. and was walking home when the two men ran up behind him. Police said the two men confronted the victim and told him they were armed. They then grabbed his backpack and dumped its contents onto the ground.

The men picked up the victim’s laptop, camera and two computer hard drives. They then searched the victim’s pockets, taking his bank cards, ID, phone and wallet, according to police.

One of the men then pistol-whipped the victim, and a gunshot was accidentally discharged, police said.

Both men then fled.

The victim walked to his home and called 911.
