Sheila Croft of Redmond won among the women racing at Saturday’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and came in 5th overall — a victory that put her a full 12 minutes ahead of second-place winner Nuta Olaru, 41, a former Romanian Olympic marathoner.

Croft, 37, finished in two hours and 41 minutes, her fastest marathon by nine minutes, said race spokesman Dan Cruz. Croft also won last year, with a time of two hours, 50 minutes.

The male winner was also local, Teshome Kokebe, 30, an Ethiopian runner who lives in Lynnwood. He finished in two hours, 31 minutes.

More than 22,000 runners were expected this morning on the new course of the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, which had a few more hills than the old course.

Robert Scribner, 26, of Rochester Hills, Mich., won the half-marathon in one hour, six minutes. Kelly Calway, 30, of Manitou Springs, Colo. won the women’s half-marathon in one hour, 18 minutes.
