Logjam heightens danger on Cedar River in Maple Valley

Whole trees toppled by a recent landslide have heightened the danger along a popular stretch of the Cedar River in Maple Valley, King County officials say.

The county’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks says a logjam has formed in a half-mile stretch of the river downstream from the Belmondo Reach, an area that already had numerous hazards but is a popular summertime destination.

Boaters are advised to heed new signs upstream of the hazards that warn all river users to exit the river and be prepared to portage their craft around the obstructions.

Information about known boating hazards in King County is posted here.
