Morning Memo / Friday: God told him to do it … Fremont Fair … Missing hiker

Weather:  With apologies to The Beatles and George Harrison in particular: “Here comes the sun!” It’s going to be clear, sunny and in the low 70s today and we are joyous.  Other forecasters say the temperature could reach 75. Although light rain is forecast for Saturday and Sunday, we are choosing to ignore it. You should, too. The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: The map and cams.

Former Seahawk says he started a fire in his Liberty Lake apartment and that God told him to do it. At first, Kevin Ellison, who was with the Seahawks briefly, told authorities the fire was an accident — smoking in bed. But he later said he set the bed ablaze because God told him to do it. He was busted and is being investigated for arson. How sad.

Missing in the Green River: The search for a Kent woman who fell into the Green River near the Green River Gorge Bridge is scheduled to resume later this morning. The woman was hiking with four friends when she slipped and fell. Another hiker jumped in and grabbed her, but couldn’t hold on. He was later rescued.

Fremont Fair: Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, which we all know is the “Center of the Universe,” holds its famous fair and Solstice celebration starting tonight and running through Sunday. Tomorrow is the popular Solstice Parade which starts at noon. There will be a celebration of the arts, including the Seattle Art Car Blowout. There’s also the Dads and Dogs parade and a beer garden.

Shot in a car in Seattle: A man told police he was in the front seat of a car at a fast-food joint in Seattle last night when his gun went off. The bullet struck his girlfriend, critically injuring her. No argument or the like before the shooting, the guy told the cops. The gun was seized. Boyfriend taken into custody. We’ll get the girlfriend’s condition soonest.

House fire in Kent: Our news partner KING5 is reporting a significant house fire down there this morning. More to come.
