Morning Memo/Monday: Fleeting warmth! … Gas prices ease … SUV hits boy

Weather: Temperatures could reach 71 today! Ah, spring. No rain in sight. Flip flops? Flop ’em if ya got ’em,  because we’re in for rain tomorrow and the temperature starts dropping Tuesday through Thursday. Oh, and we’re in  for rain until Friday. One word: June. The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: The map and cams.

Gas prices: It’s Monday, and that means it’s time to tell you that Washington state still  has the highest gasoline prices in the country. But you knew that. The good news is that prices have dropped a whopping 12 cents on average in a week, to $4.16  gallon, according to AAA Washington. That’s 62 cents above the national average. Gas prices aren’t doing any favors for the local economy, either: See staff writer Alexa Vaughn’s story today. The numbers: Bellingham $4.31, Bremerton $4.13, Seattle-Bellevue-Everett $4.22, Tacoma $4.14, Olympia $4.15, Vancouver $4.12, Yakima $4.17, Tri-Cities $4.09, Spokane $3.93.

Familiar voice back on Seattle radio today: Greg Hersholt, who spent more than a quarter-century at KIRO radio, is back in Seattle, this time as early morning drive-time anchor at KOMO radio. He replaces longtime radio voice Bill Yeend.

We like dogs, so we couldn't pass up an opportunity to showcase a photo from the 2012 Furry 5k in Seattle's Seward Park yesterday. 3-year-old boy hit by car: The youngster ran out from between two cars into the path of an SUV and was hit Sunday night in Skyway, according to a report from KIRO-TV. The SUV driver told police he didn’t see the boy and thought initially that he had struck a cat. The boy is at Harborview. His condition wasn’t immediately available.
