Morning Memo/Saturday: Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon … fake cop case … praise for Rainier rescuer

Weather: Showers expected this afternoon, with a high in the low 60s. We were crossing our fingers for a break in the clouds tomorrow, but it looks like we may have to wait until Monday for sunnier skies. The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: Downtown may be a snarl during the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon this morning. Nearly 30,000 people are expected to participate. Another 30,000 people are expected at the Capitol Hill Pride Festival, which will close part of Broadway. See a list of (traffic-jamming) weekend events here. The map and cams.

Fake cop suspect behind bars: A 31-year-old man was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of  impersonating a police officer and sexually assaulting a woman a week earlier in North Seattle.

Ranger who died during rescue: Rangers are attempting to retrieve the body of fellow ranger Nick Hall, who fell to his death Thursday while trying to evacuate four injured climbers on Mount Rainier. Hall is the fourth ranger in the park’s history to die in the line of duty. His father, Carter Hall, said:

“We are heartbroken and in awe of Nick. A mountain is a hostile place, but we are grateful that so much appreciation for his actions is being expressed to us. We are happy so many people want to honor him.”
