One-hour delay expected in Super Guppy arrival

Seattle’s clouds are delaying the arrival of NASA’s Super Guppy.

Officials of the Museum of Flight said this morning they’ve been told to expect the Super Guppy cargo plane  to land at Boeing Field about noon, rather than 11 a.m.

Museum spokesman Mike Bush said plans still call for the Guppy, carrying the front end of NASA’s Full Fuselage Trainer to circle the  metro area before landing.

If the delay is held to an hour, the aircraft would pass over the Museum of Flight about 11:40, circle north over downtown Seattle and the Eastside and swing as far north as Everett before landing at Boeing Field at noon.

A welcome ceremony at the museum originally scheduled for 11:45 would likely occur about 12:30 or 12:45.

Bush said reports of low clouds in Seattle prompted the Guppy flight crew to delay the departure from California in the last leg of the Guppy’s  3 ½-day journey from Houston.
