Woman hurt, man arrested in Monroe road-rage incident

An apparent road-rage incident in Monroe this morning left a 28-year-old woman injured and a 40-year-old Arlington man behind bars.

According to police, two Monroe police detectives witnessed a disagreement between the driver of a GMC pickup and the driver of a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle on Fryelands Boulevard at 8:07 a.m. Detectives watched the 40-year-old pickup driver get out  of his vehicle at a stoplight and punch through the passenger window of the SUV; police do not believe a man in the SUV was struck.

The detectives said the pickup driver and a passenger in the SUV, a 28-year-old Monroe man, had been in a heated exchange and gesturing toward each other.

The SUV driver, a 28-year-old woman from Monroe, got out of her vehicle and stepped in front of the pickup, putting her hands on the hood. The pickup moved forward, and dragged the woman on the pavement, police said. The woman fell when the Arlington man made a right turn onto Highway 2, according to police.

The woman was treated for minor injuries at Valley General Hospital in Monroe, police said. The pickup driver was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
