Spotlight is on the zoo’s big bears and more Saturday

Pike Place Market fishmongers took a trip to the Woodland Park Zoo Thursday to put on a salmon tossing demo before tossing some chum salmon to the zoo’s two grizzlies, Keema and Denali.

The 18-year-old brothers, who each top 800 pounds, seemed to enjoy the display of flying food and based on this photo, clearly enjoyed eating it. Yesterday’s show was a kickoff to the zoo’s “Bear Affair & Big Howl for Wolves,” event Saturday featuring zookeeper talks, safe-camping tips, a Karelian bear-dog demonstration and crafts for kids.
