Teen swimmer missing near Westport

A 14-year-old boy was lost in the surf Tuesday afternoon while swimming at a beach about a mile south of Westport.

The Coast Guard says the teen and a 12-year-old boy were caught in an undertow. The 12-year-old made it back to shore but lost sight of his friend, according to The Associated Press.

KBKW reports the Coast Guard searched with a helicopter and boat, and Grays Harbor County sheriff’s deputies patrolled the beach without success. The search was called off late Tuesday night.
