Unruly IHOP customer jailed after hitting Seattle cop

An unruly man who was kicked out of an IHOP restaurant was jailed early this morning after he struck a police officer, according to Seattle police.

Employees of the restaurant on East Madison Street called police around 2:30 a.m. after the man, reported to be intoxicated, began picking fights with other customers. Officers escorted the 34-year-old man outside and he became angry and yelled at the officers, police said. At one point he struck one of the cops in the face with his hand.

Police arrested the man. He and the officer who was struck were checked out at Harborview Medical Center.

The man was then booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault, according to police.
