Seattle police say it appears someone deliberately started a fire in South Seattle this morning after throwing an incendiary device through the window of a townhouse.
Police and fire crews were called to the home in the 3000 block of South Genesee Street at 5:13 a.m. for reports of a fire, said police spokesman Jeff Kappel. An arsonist is believed to have broken a window before throwing the device inside, Kappel wrote in a news release.
A small fire was started, but it was quickly extinguished by the home’s sprinkler system before firefighters arrived.
The two adults inside the home were not hurt, according to police. There has been no arrest, and police said they do not have a description of the suspect.
Kappel said officers do not believe this was a random attack.
