Arrest made in stabbing of Federal Way woman

A woman stabbed to death in her Federal Way home Friday night has been identified by police as 20-year-old Melinda O’Meara.

A Federal Way man, 29, was arrested for investigation of homicide in connection with the killing, police said. O’Meara was identified as the man’s girlfriend.

The man went to a neighbor’s home around 11:15 p.m. and said he had stabbed the woman to death, according to Federal Way police. The neighbor called 911 and flagged down a passing private-security car. The security officer forced his way inside the man’s home and found the woman’s body on the floor, police said.

Police said they’ve had previous contacts with the man, but none for domestic violence.
