Expect snarled traffic in Seattle, Eastside this weekend

Hoping to get across Lake Washington or navigate around Seattle this weekend?

Plan carefully. There’s a lot going on:

Highway 520 will close at 11 tonight until 5 a.m. Monday, from Montlake Boulevard to the Interstate 405 onramps on the Eastside, according to the state Department of Transportation.

University District: Expect delays Saturday morning when 10,000 cyclists participating in  the annual Seattle to Portland (STP) Bicycle Classic take off from the University of Washington. The ride is expected to cause traffic delays as it heads south toward Portland.

I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer Street will be shut down for ongoing roadway construction, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

Capitol Hill: Pine Street, at Broadway, will be closed to east- and westbound traffic from 5 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday. Motorists traveling north and south on Broadway should expect delays due to reduced lanes.

Greenwood neighborhood: Aurora Avenue North at North 85th Street will be closed, except for one westbound lane, from 10 tonight to 6 a.m. Monday, for a paving project.

Montlake neighborhood: Lake Washington Boulevard East, in the Arboretum, will be closed from 3 a.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday for roadwork. There will be access to the Graham Visitors Center from the north and to the Seattle Japanese Garden parking lot from the south.
