Federal Way man arrested in girlfriend’s slaying

A 29-year-old Federal Way man was arrested last night for investigation of homicide after his girlfriend was found dead in their home.

The man went to a neighbor’s home around 11:15 p.m. and said he had stabbed the woman to death, according to Federal Way police. The neighbor called 911 and flagged down a passing private security car. The security officer forced his way inside the man’s home and found the woman’s body on the floor, police said.

Police said they’ve had previous contacts with the man, but none for domestic violence.

UPDATE: Federal Way Police have identified the victim as Melinda O’Meara, 20.
